Soooooo Close

I think I might just buy a fishing rod and dangle some food right in front of her. That oughta do it.

Imagine

I am so in love with the way Liam plays these days. His imagination is really blossoming and there is nothing more entertaining than sitting back and watching/listening to him play. He loves to play dress up and become different characters: doctors, pirates, soldiers, and of course the infamous Buzz Lightyear. One of my favorites is when he makes Chris and I march behind him as he leads us around the house chanting "Lets go soldiers.. move out" over and over again. Or when he wants me to pretend to cough so he can give me a shot and take my temperature. I knew having a kid would be a lot of work, but I never thought about how much fun it would. And it is super fun.

7 Month Update

Livi shared her 7 month birthday with her Daddy's 39th birthday. She is really getting to that next level and leaving all signs of a newborn behind. Sitting up is old news, now she is trying to move onto crawling. She hasn't officially done it yet, but I did find her up on all fours when I went to get her from her crib today. Even on all fours, she was rocking forward and backwards. Always rocking, especially when music is playing. She loves to dance.

She has 4 teeth and 2 more are currently breaking through. She is not a picky eater at all. She eats all different colors of veggies which her brother never did. That is good news because Liam actually turned orange for a few months since that was the only color food I could get him to eat.

She is getting some different expressions. She has a new smile that is alot more coy than the previous one, but just as cute. She is talking more too. I just started to use some signs like I did with Liam. Right now I am teaching her "eat", "more" and "all done". I am curious to see how long it will take her to pick up on them.

Zoe Marie

She's here! My sister Michelle gave birth on September 17th at 11:37 pm to Zoe Marie. She weighed 8 lbs 4 oz. and is 21 inches long. I personally think she is the spitting image of her mother. She had her at a birthing center and said the experience was a completely different one than the first time in a hospital. Another glowing endorsement for the au natural way!

I should be going up next weekend to see her and I can't wait to hold a newborn again. Especially because this time I get to hand her right back over. I love newborns and all, but they are a lot of work.

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's... Mickey?

Liam (pointing frantically upward while at a red light): "Mommy, Mickey! You see him? You see him, mommy? Mickey and his horns"
Me: "Where? I don't see Mickey. What are you talking about Liam?"
Liam: "Mickey - look up there- Mickey!!!"
Me: "In the clouds? What are you...oh, wait- I see him Babe! I see Mickey!!"

And then he gets a very satisfied grin on his face as I tell him he is just about the smartest boy I have ever met.

Possessive Much?

On the way into daycare today, Liam and I were talking about all of his little friends and their characteristics. Liam asked me to talk about Alyssa, so I said that she was very pretty and that she really liked Livi. "No Mommy. I love Livi, you love Livi. Alyssa doesn't love Livi." I told him I was pretty sure she did love Livi and again he insisted that he loved Livi, but Alyssa did not.

When I got to daycare, I told Jordanna the story and it turns out Liam is quite possessive over his little sister. She is all the rage with the "big" kids. They all fawn over her and want to give her her bottle. From what Jordanna tells me, Liam doesn't like to share her one bit. I'm not sure how serious it is or how much aggravation it causes Jordanna, but a part of me thought it was kinda nice. I don't know how they will interact when they get older, so it's nice to see this relationship in its sweetest, purest form before he realizes that she hogs the bathroom or wants to watch a different show than he does.

Disney- Take Two

Oh Disney- you smart, crafty place you. You sure know how to make a kid happy. Princesses, pirates, and aliens. How can you ask for more?

This trip was a much more successful one. A well, rested child who does not have the flu makes all the difference. We opted for 2 half day trips. One to Magic Kingdom with Eli and one to Animal Kingdom (which SURPRISE closes at 5, grrr...) and Hollywood Studios with just Liam. Even with a kid who isn't so crazy about rides, there is still so much to do and see. I always sorta thought Disney was "the man", but really... when you have a kid... there is nothing grander....
