A Time Out

I used to do yoga... like a lot. And I loved it. I used to read. I used to make meals that would take half the day to prepare. I used to go to the movies. There are a lot of "used to's" these days. Now, the days just seem to flow in and out seamlessly and most days we are just trying to keep our head above water. This isn't a venting session. I don't regret the path that I have chosen, but I have come to realize that every now and again a Time Out is in order. I spend so much time trying to keep up with day to day routine that I forget how important it is to just breathe.

Yoga is all about intuition and listening to what your body is trying to tell you. It shocked me the other day when I closed my eyes and took a deep breathe and realized that all my muscles were aching and I was holding this ball of stress that was just sitting behind my eyes. So I have vowed to pay attention more to what is going on around me and within me. I am gonna do some yoga a couple nights a week, make it a point to sleep in once a week, and just enjoy my family... laundry and dishes be damned.

6 Month Update

Happy half a year old, Livi Lu!!! My sweet baby girl is in a hurry to grow up. She is eating food everyday as if she has been doing it for ages. When sitting in your lap while you are eating your dinner, you get the sneaking suspicion that she is planning her next move and is going to lunge at it any second. She is 18 pounds and 10 ounces and 26.75 inches long.

She is in that stage of sitting up where you have to put pillows around her because she is bound to fall over after a couple of minutes. But the wobbly head is getting steadier everyday. Her mohawk is disappearing and her hair is getting much lighter. Thankfully, those eyes are still crystal blue.

I have never met anyone sweeter and I am thankful daily that she is such a good girl. If I am ever frustrated during the day with work or anything else, I close my eyes and picture that smiling face and all is right with the world again.

Double Take

So apparently, my son who won't touch a single vegetable I make will eat a mixed baby greens salad? I have never even attempted to give it to him before because he can't stand your basic iceburg lettuce. Last weekend, he tried it off Kama's plate and just kept scarfing the stuff down. So, convinced it was a fluke, I offered it to him again tonight. He ate more of the salad than anything other part of the dinner.

I don't think I can express how happy this makes me. I can offer him every vegetable in the world, but if he doesn't eat it- there is not much more I can do. Sometimes I hide veggies in his food, but it's always been so important to me that he learn how to eat healthy, balanced meals. So the fact that he is voluntarily and happily eating a freaking salad is.... amazing... and so very very awesome.
