Stand Up

Little Ms. Liv has been pulling herself up to stand for a couple of weeks now. But today she actually let go in an attempt to stand up on her own. She fell right back on her butt, but it slapped me into the reality that I have very few months left with my "baby". How can things that happen so gradually, happen so fast at the same time?

It's the Best Day of the Year

Hope you had a holly, jolly Christmas. Ours was filled with family, friends, love and lots and lots of unnecessary packaging. I tell you, it's harder to get those toys out of the box than it is to get into Fort Knox.

My boy is 3!

My boy? My boy is 3? No, no you must be mistaken. I have a small baby boy- he can't possibly be 3. Then again, he has been around for a while... dang it... he IS 3. *sigh*

But he is also awesome. I am so in love with him and I am pretty sure he's fond of us too. He loves playing with everything. His imagination takes over whether he is dressing up or playing with his Buzz and Ariel dolls.

He is very good at communicating. He knows when to apologize, be cute, manipulate, giggle, revolt, shy away or be affectionate. And he is always observing people's behavior. He repeats everything he hears so mind your P's and Q's around this one.

He is still a bit of a musical genius. After hearing a song one or two times, he will be able to sing it back to you. He is very good at melodies and if I have any money left in a couple of years, I would love to get him some guitar or drum lessons.

He knows all of his letters and the sound they make. He knows his colors and most of his numbers. He's getting good at demonstrating his good manners. We try to emphasize asking over demanding and using the magic word. He also knows it makes mommy happy when he coughs into his elbow or says excuse me when he needs to get by. He is 38 inches tall and weighs 33 pounds.

Although, he is far from perfect, I am pretty glad with the outcome thus far. We have a lot of fun together and he loves his family. What more can I ask for?

10 Month Update

This phase of being a toddler comes with lots of bumps and bruises. Livi is pulling herself up on just about everything, trying to stand up. As a result, this mommy has been constantly cringing and comforting. When she isn't trying to stand up, she is trying to get up into your business. She has earned the name of "Babyzilla" and when she crawls over to Liam's toys, he runs over to me with his toy and asks me to "protect them from Livi".

But even with these minor interruptions in play, Liam loves his little sister. And the feeling is more than mutual. Livi ADORES Liam. He can do barely any wrong in her eyes. She smiles at the very sight of him and cracks up when he plays peek-a-bo0 with her or just runs by.

She just started saying the word "duck" today! Really cute seeing her discover new sounds. She is very sassy. Her attitude can switch on a dime. The happiest baby on earth can become the crankiest if you don't oblige her requests- especially when food is considered. She is also a big fan of Mommy right now. If I am in the room, she wants to be with me. And if she gets hurt at all, I am the only one that can calm her down. Of course, if I am not in the room- this isn't the case. Out of sight, out of mind I guess.

Yet Another Disney Trip

But for real this time. We are talking 3 days of Disney and no sick children. This one counts. You couldn't have asked for better weather and the grandparents even came. To top it off, the third day was spent with our BFF's! It was the first time ever (in my recollection) that Liam went a whole day without a nap and he did amazingly. We were thinking of leaving Ms Liv with her Aunt, but decided to take her and I am glad we did. She was much easier to cart around than I thought she would be and LOVED all of the live shows and parades.

Ya did it again Mickey.

A Super Party

Two months of planning finally came into fruition yesterday as we all got together to celebrate one rad little kid's 3rd birthday. Liam had so much fun and was thrilled to see all his buds gathered in the same place. Some highlights of the event: a cape making station, a Silly String game where the kids "got" the bad guys, their very own super hero painted to look like them (meaning the hair color matched theirs ;) and cupcakes!

It went better than I ever could have imagined. The weather was superb, the kids ran around in their capes and Liam had a smile the entire time. It was hard for him to grasp that all those presents were for him, but my sweet boy thanked everyone as he opened their present. Ugh- I could eat him with a spoon.
