Don't Get It

The company I work for recently made a deal with this guy to sponsor his second "evolution of dance". Apparently, the first one he did is the number one most viewed video on You Tube EVER. Which I found strange, seeing as I am on the computer all the time and never heard of it before. I get that they are trying to keep up with the way things are marketed nowadays and viral videos are all the rage, but I just do not get this video. I can watch about 20 seconds of it before I get an impulse to close the window.

Nonetheless, it is interesting to see how the cross marketing works. For instance, we have one of those applications where you can upload your photo and dance along with him. Then you can embed the video on your facebook page or myspace page. You can also enter a competition to win $5000 from us by submitting your own dancing video.

As smart as it all may seem, I still don't get it. But I did get to design some of the banners that are shown when you view the video on You Tube- so that's cool :)

It's a Love/Hate Relationship

Look at this cute little number I found online. It says "hate" on it, but when you look in the mirror you see the word "love". What a simple, but incredibly creative idea!

Anthrax Bacilli Finger Puppets Anyone?

Only on Etsy could you find finger puppets based on the French Chemist Louis Pasteur. The set includes Pasteur accompanied by a rabies-free cat and pasteurized milk as well as a happy little culture of anthrax bacilli (demonstrating his work on creating a rabies vaccine, developing the method of pasteurization, and fore fathering germ theory/bacteriology respectively). Now you can enjoy Pasteur's amazingly awesome achievements embodied in finger puppet form!

2 More Weeks!

It's been such a long time that I ALMOST forgot what the show was about. And although the writers strike put a bit of a haze over the last season, I am still super duper excited about the upcoming season. We started watching LOST during season 2. We borrowed the first season from Kittyama on DVD and couldn't stop watching them. We would watch one episode and had to keep going until we couldn't physically stay awake anymore.

I admit they started losing me once they left the island, but from what I hear they are on their way back. And really, who am I kidding? I could never stop watching. I mean I have to find out about that giant foot. Remember that giant foot? What the hell was that?

A New Beginning

What can I say that hasn't already been said in the last week? Things have gotten so bad under the current administration that I vowed to move out of the country if we had to endure four more years of Republican rule. It's not even that I am so liberal that I would be upset if a Republican won- what upsets me is what the party has become. They seem to have lost focus of their core values and are more interested in doing whatever is necessary to gain power. I sincerely do hope they take this opportunity as a time of reflection to remind themselves of what is important to them and find the conviction in their beliefs that they seem to have lost along the way.

As far as the history that occurred last Tuesday, well it just tickles me pink. I feel like I just breathed a sigh of relief that I have been holding in for the last eight years. How refreshing and invigorating to have a new president, one that holds the same ideals I do. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like he genuinely has the good of the country in mind. I truly believe in him and I am so happy to be an American. I haven't been able to say that for a while.

My First Online Baby

I have always been a print designer. I took a couple of web design classes in school, but I had horrible teachers that forced me to have a bad impression of it. For the past couple of years, I have tried to pick it up here or there, knowing that it would be essential knowledge to continue in my profession. I would start reading a book, but always found an excuse and put it down. Well, the company I work for has made a huge shift towards web. We've always had multiple websites, but our focus was always primarily on direct mail, magazines, and other stuff print. So now our graphic design team and web team have merged into one and I was FORCED to learn web design. Guess what? I love it! It's so different from print, but the gratification you get from seeing your work in front of you and being able to interact with it is something I really enjoy. I even like the code part of it. So I am taking full advantage of having these knowledgeable web people around me and letting the company foot the bill on a couple of online classes. The way technology is taking over, I HAVE to know this stuff. But now I know, I WANT to learn this stuff. So without further adieu, my first online baby.
